Role Overview

We are seeking an API & Backend Test Automation Engineer to develop automated tests for backend services, application interfaces, and data-driven workflows. The successful candidate will help identify functional defects, validate service interactions, and ensure backend changes meet reliability and integration requirements before release.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain automated tests for REST APIs, backend services, and integration workflows.
• Develop test automation scripts using Python, Java, JavaScript, or suitable programming languages.
• Validate API responses, status codes, authentication, error handling, and business logic.
• Test data processing, database interactions, and service-to-service communication.
• Use tools such as Postman, REST Assured, pytest, or comparable frameworks.
• Create positive, negative, boundary, and regression test scenarios.
• Integrate automated backend tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Investigate failures using application logs, SQL queries, debugging tools, and test reports.
• Collaborate with backend developers to reproduce defects and verify fixes.
• Maintain reusable test utilities, test data, and automation documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve coverage, execution efficiency, and the reliability of test suites.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least three years of experience in software testing, API testing, or backend automation.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, and common authentication methods.
• Practical experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, or another suitable automation language.
• Familiarity with pytest, REST Assured, Postman, or equivalent testing tools.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated regression testing.
• Understanding of distributed systems, service integrations, and debugging practices.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Professional English proficiency.
