Description
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced FX Options Trader to support foreign exchange derivatives trading activities, develop market strategies, and manage exposure across currency options portfolios. The successful candidate will combine a strong understanding of currency markets with options pricing, volatility analysis, and disciplined risk management to identify trading opportunities and contribute to consistent trading performance.
Based in Estonia, this position offers the opportunity to work in a professional financial markets environment, collaborating with quantitative analysts, risk specialists, and trading operations teams. The ideal candidate will understand how interest-rate expectations, central bank decisions, macroeconomic developments, and changes in implied volatility influence currency options valuations.
Key Responsibilities
-
Analyse FX options markets to identify trading opportunities across major and selected emerging-market currency pairs.
-
Monitor implied volatility, realised volatility, volatility skews, risk reversals, and options term structures.
-
Develop and execute trading strategies involving vanilla currency options and volatility-based positions.
-
Assess market exposure using options sensitivities, including delta, gamma, vega, and theta.
-
Monitor portfolio performance and maintain positions within approved trading limits and risk parameters.
-
Evaluate macroeconomic announcements, central bank policy changes, geopolitical developments, and liquidity conditions that may affect currency volatility.
-
Collaborate with quantitative researchers and pricing specialists to assess options valuations and improve trading models.
-
Review trade execution quality, transaction costs, bid–ask spreads, and counterparty pricing.
-
Maintain accurate trading records and provide timely updates on market positioning, performance, and risk exposure.
-
Work closely with risk management and compliance teams to ensure adherence to internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or a related discipline.
-
Relevant experience in FX trading, currency derivatives, options market-making, or a comparable financial markets role.
-
Strong understanding of options pricing, implied volatility, volatility surfaces, and currency market dynamics.
-
Familiarity with the Black–Scholes framework and its application to FX options, including relevant currency and interest-rate inputs.
-
Practical understanding of the Greeks and their implications for portfolio exposure and hedging.
-
Proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools; experience with Python, SQL, or quantitative trading platforms is advantageous.
-
Ability to interpret economic data and translate market developments into structured trading decisions.
-
Strong numerical reasoning, analytical judgement, and attention to detail.
-
Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a risk-controlled environment.
Performance Expectations
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate disciplined execution, reliable risk monitoring, sound market analysis, and a clear understanding of the relationship between volatility, pricing, liquidity, and portfolio performance. Performance will be assessed against the responsibilities of the role, risk-adjusted outcomes, compliance standards, and the quality of trading decisions.
What We Offer
-
A challenging role within Estonia’s financial services and fintech ecosystem.
-
Exposure to currency derivatives, volatility strategies, and institutional trading practices.
-
Opportunities to collaborate with experienced market professionals and quantitative specialists.
-
A professional environment that emphasizes analytical rigour, risk discipline, and continuous development.
-
Competitive compensation based on relevant experience, technical expertise, and role responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate: A disciplined derivatives professional with strong FX options knowledge, a quantitative mindset, and the ability to evaluate volatility opportunities while maintaining effective risk controls.
