Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a data-oriented Treasury & Cash Flow Analyst to strengthen financial forecasting, liquidity analysis, and cash reporting across the organisation. The role combines treasury fundamentals with analytical techniques to improve the accuracy of cash flow projections and provide better visibility into future funding requirements.

The successful candidate will analyse historical financial movements, assess anticipated receipts and payments, investigate forecast variances, and develop reporting tools that help finance stakeholders understand the organisation’s short-term and medium-term liquidity position.

This is an individual-contributor position for a professional who enjoys working with financial datasets, building forecasting models, and converting complex cash flow information into clear, practical insights.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Flow Forecasting and Modelling

  • Develop and maintain short-term and rolling cash flow forecasts using historical transactions, payment schedules, contractual commitments, and expected receipts.
  • Analyse actual versus forecast cash movements and investigate material variances.
  • Assess the timing of incoming funds, supplier payments, payroll obligations, operating expenses, and settlement commitments.
  • Prepare alternative cash flow scenarios to evaluate the potential effects of delayed receipts, unexpected expenses, or changes in transaction volumes.
  • Identify emerging liquidity pressures and provide evidence-based recommendations to support financial planning.
  • Maintain documented forecasting assumptions and update models as new financial information becomes available.

Financial Data and Treasury Analysis

  • Extract and analyse cash movement data from accounting systems, banking platforms, payment processors, and financial reporting tools.
  • Reconcile forecast inputs against actual bank balances, ledger records, and payment schedules.
  • Analyse cash flow patterns, account utilisation, payment timing, and recurring differences between projected and actual balances.
  • Review foreign currency balances and assess the potential impact of exchange-rate changes on cash flow forecasts.
  • Support the analysis of banking costs, transaction fees, and other expenses affecting available liquidity.
  • Identify data quality issues and work with relevant teams to improve the reliability of financial information.

Reporting and Process Improvement

  • Produce cash flow dashboards, liquidity reports, forecast variance analyses, and periodic financial summaries.
  • Develop reusable Excel models and reporting templates to improve consistency and reduce manual processing.
  • Use SQL, Power Query, Power BI, or similar analytical tools where appropriate to streamline data preparation and reporting.
  • Maintain clear documentation of forecasting methodology, data sources, assumptions, and calculation logic.
  • Support treasury planning discussions by presenting key findings and explaining the financial implications of observed trends.
  • Assist with month-end reporting, financial reviews, internal controls, and audit requests.
  • Recommend improvements to cash flow forecasting, reporting workflows, and the integration of treasury data across systems.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in financial analysis, treasury, cash flow forecasting, management accounting, or financial planning.
  • Strong knowledge of cash flow statements, working capital, liquidity analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including scenario modelling, financial formulas, pivot tables, and data validation.
  • Experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, or banking and payment data is desirable.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Power Query, Python, or similar analytical tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to assess financial assumptions, explain variances, and present analytical findings clearly.
  • Excellent attention to detail, structured problem-solving skills, and sound commercial judgement.
  • Ability to manage confidential financial information and meet reporting deadlines.

Preferred Background

Experience supporting fintech companies, digital banking operations, payment service providers, or internationally active businesses would be beneficial. Familiarity with SEPA payment flows, multi-currency cash forecasting, and automated financial reporting would also be advantageous.

Key Performance Indicators

Performance will be evaluated through forecast accuracy, timeliness of reporting, quality of variance analysis, reliability of underlying cash data, and the usefulness of insights provided to treasury and finance stakeholders.

Why This Role Matters

Reliable cash flow forecasting allows an organisation to anticipate funding needs, manage operational commitments, and respond to changes in financial conditions before they become critical. Through accurate analysis and improved reporting, the successful candidate will help strengthen liquidity planning and support more informed financial decisions.

Ideal Candidate: A methodical financial analyst with strong modelling skills, sound treasury knowledge, and the ability to transform cash flow data into actionable insights for effective financial planning.
