We are building sophisticated financial technology capabilities and are seeking an experienced Fintech Backend Engineer to develop the services that power secure, scalable, and data-intensive financial applications.

This is a technically focused opportunity for an engineer who enjoys distributed systems, financial transactions, service architecture, and solving complex engineering problems.

Your Mission

You will develop backend services responsible for critical financial workflows, ensuring that systems remain accurate, resilient, observable, and capable of scaling as transaction volumes and product requirements grow.

You will work alongside architects, product managers, data engineers, security specialists, DevOps professionals, and other software engineers.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance backend services.
• Build APIs supporting financial products and internal platform capabilities.
• Implement transaction-processing logic with strong data-integrity controls.
• Develop event-driven services for asynchronous financial workflows.
• Design reliable integrations with banking, payment, identity, and external financial systems.
• Optimise database architecture and query performance.
• Implement automated testing and quality-assurance practices.
• Develop resilient services with appropriate failure-handling mechanisms.
• Contribute to observability, monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling.
• Participate in technical design reviews and architecture discussions.
• Investigate complex production incidents and implement long-term solutions.
• Review code and contribute to engineering standards.
• Support continuous improvements in scalability, security, and deployment processes.

Engineering Environment

The role may involve:

• Java / Kotlin / Go / Python
• Spring Boot or comparable backend frameworks
• PostgreSQL and distributed databases
• Kafka and event-driven architecture
• REST / gRPC APIs
• Docker and Kubernetes
• AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• CI/CD and infrastructure automation
• Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or comparable observability tooling

Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of backend software-development experience.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
• Experience designing APIs and production-grade backend services.
• Strong SQL and database-engineering knowledge.
• Understanding of concurrency, fault tolerance, caching, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure and containerised applications.
• Strong appreciation for security and data integrity.
• Fintech, payments, banking, trading, or financial-infrastructure experience is highly valuable.
• Strong analytical thinking and systematic debugging skills.
• Comfortable working within an international engineering organisation.
