A high-growth fintech environment in Estonia is looking for a Principal Digital Banking Architect to shape the architecture of next-generation digital banking platforms, customer journeys, and financial infrastructure.

This is a senior technology leadership position for an architect capable of connecting banking capabilities, modern software architecture, regulatory requirements, and customer-facing digital experiences into a scalable technology ecosystem.

The Role

You will establish architectural direction across digital account services, payments, financial APIs, customer identity, transaction processing, and third-party banking integrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Define enterprise and solution architecture for digital banking products.
• Design scalable platforms for accounts, payments, transfers, balances, and financial services.
• Establish API and event-driven architecture standards across banking applications.
• Lead architectural decisions involving cloud platforms, microservices, data platforms, and distributed systems.
• Develop integration strategies for banks, payment institutions, fintech providers, and external financial networks.
• Ensure architecture supports security, resilience, observability, and regulatory requirements.
• Work with product and engineering leadership to convert business objectives into technical roadmaps.
• Identify architectural risks and establish long-term remediation strategies.
• Review major technology proposals, system designs, and platform changes.
• Mentor senior engineers and architects while promoting strong engineering standards.

Candidate Profile

You should have extensive experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, digital banking, payments, or financial technology.

Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, APIs, microservices, event streaming, databases, identity systems, and distributed applications is expected.

Experience with open banking, banking-as-a-service, payment platforms, or regulated financial environments would be highly relevant.
