Role Summary

The Software Engineer — Cloud Services & API Integration will develop service components and integration solutions that support communication between software platforms. The role combines application development, API design, cloud-based deployment practices, and system troubleshooting to improve reliability and interoperability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain APIs and service integrations between internal applications and third-party platforms.

• Develop backend components for distributed applications and cloud-hosted services.

• Implement authentication, authorisation, validation, and error-handling mechanisms for service endpoints.

• Work with messaging systems, event-driven workflows, and asynchronous processing where required.

• Support deployment and configuration of services in cloud environments.

• Investigate integration failures, service errors, and performance bottlenecks.

• Develop automated tests and contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines.

• Monitor service behaviour and assist with improvements to reliability and operational visibility.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, QA, and product teams on technical delivery.

• Maintain API specifications, integration documentation, and implementation notes.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience developing backend services, APIs, or system integrations.

• Proficiency in a programming language such as Java, Python, Go, C#, or TypeScript.

• Understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and service-to-service communication.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Knowledge of Git, automated testing, and CI/CD fundamentals.

• Understanding of containerisation, such as Docker, is an advantage.

• Strong debugging, analytical, and technical documentation skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams and manage development tasks independently.
