Description

About the Company

Our client is a blockchain infrastructure organisation building technology and economic frameworks to support decentralised networks. The company works with ecosystem participants, developers, validators, and strategic partners to encourage sustainable network participation and long-term ecosystem development.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Token Economist to lead the design and evaluation of network-level incentive systems and ecosystem economic strategy. This role will focus on aligning token incentives with network security, decentralisation, participation, governance, and sustainable growth.

You will advise senior stakeholders on token distribution, validator incentives, ecosystem funding, and governance mechanisms. The successful candidate will combine advanced economic analysis with practical knowledge of blockchain protocols and the operational realities of decentralised networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and review of token economic strategies for blockchain networks and decentralised ecosystems.
  • Design economic frameworks for validator participation, staking, network security, developer incentives, and ecosystem contributions.
  • Evaluate token issuance, inflation, reward distribution, treasury allocation, and long-term supply dynamics.
  • Model incentives for validators, delegators, developers, governance participants, and strategic ecosystem partners.
  • Assess how economic design affects decentralisation, network resilience, participation, and concentration of influence.
  • Conduct scenario modelling for changes to emissions, staking rewards, transaction fees, and network adoption.
  • Develop economic recommendations for governance proposals, protocol upgrades, and ecosystem funding programmes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of grants, developer incentives, liquidity programmes, and community participation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with protocol architects and engineering leaders to align economic mechanisms with technical design.
  • Establish key economic performance indicators and monitoring frameworks for network sustainability.
  • Identify systemic risks associated with incentive exploitation, governance concentration, and unsustainable reward structures.
  • Present research findings and strategic recommendations to executives, governance bodies, and ecosystem stakeholders.
  • Mentor researchers and contribute to the organisation’s economic research standards.
  • Monitor industry developments and research relating to blockchain governance, mechanism design, and network economics.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in economics, quantitative finance, economic research, tokenomics, or blockchain protocol strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or evaluating complex incentive systems or economic models.
  • Strong understanding of blockchain consensus mechanisms, staking economics, token issuance, and decentralised governance.
  • Advanced quantitative modelling and scenario analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar research and data analysis tools.
  • Experience analysing on-chain data and interpreting economic performance indicators.
  • Ability to evaluate trade-offs involving network security, decentralisation, participation, and sustainability.
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to communicate complex findings to senior decision-makers.
  • Experience leading research projects or coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with international teams remotely.

What We Offer

  • Remote working opportunity from Estonia, subject to company policy and applicable employment requirements.
  • Competitive compensation reflecting seniority and expertise.
  • Opportunity to shape network economics and long-term ecosystem strategy.
  • Collaboration with experienced blockchain researchers, engineers, and ecosystem leaders.
  • Access to advanced research resources and analytical infrastructure.
  • Professional development and opportunities for broader strategic leadership.

Application Instructions

Applicants should submit an updated CV highlighting their experience in tokenomics, network incentives, blockchain economics, or protocol governance. Include relevant research, economic models, publications, or protocol proposals where available. Candidates should describe their contribution to economic design decisions and the measurable or expected outcomes of their work.

Equal Opportunity Statement: The employer is committed to equal opportunity and considers candidates fairly based on job-related qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated skills.
