Description
About the role
If you are passionate about owning the operational backbone of a fast-growing commodities business, join our team as Senior Operations Manager! You will operate at the centre of the business, working directly with traders, finance, suppliers, customers, shipping providers, and inspectors to ensure deals move smoothly across international markets.
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of accomplishing the physical and contractual delivery of non-ferrous metals traded by Metycle – from contract execution, through logistics and documentation, to final invoicing, settlement, and cash collection. The role owns the deal lifecycle in its entirety.
-
Deal lifecycle & contract administration: Own each trade from confirmation through closeout: contracts, amendments, Incoterm-aligned confirmations, and QP/MOA pricing windows
-
Logistics & shipping operations: Manage End-to-end physical movement of cargo and inventory across origin, transit, port, and destination, with daily coordination between suppliers, receivers, and service-providers
-
Document management & compliance: The paper trail is the asset: Ensure complete, accurate documentation for all aspects of the supply chain, inclusive of customs and trade compliance
-
Invoicing, settlements & pricing: Oversee customer invoicing and supplier payments, from provisional to final, including SOAs and client risk management
-
Inspection, quality & claims: Defend Metycle’s commercial position on every cargo, by handling quality disputes, shortages, inspection coordination, pricing claims, and commercial escalations end-to-end.
-
Experience in B2B transactions with exposure to export / import activities, preferably in the metal scrap and recycling industry or a related sector
-
Hands-on experience with Incoterms, Bills of Lading, LCs, marine cargo insurance, customs documentation, and structured trade finance instruments; familiarity with LME hedging mechanics is a strong plus
-
Results-driven personality with a hands-on mentality and a strong focus on achieving operational KPIs
-
Bias to action; high tolerance for ambiguity; strong judgement for what’s worth a fight (e.g., claims, pricing windows) versus what to let go. Calm under pressure; strong written communication for lender, counterparty, and inspection correspondence
-
Not afraid of new technologies and actively embraces AI to run the day-to-day operations more efficiently and free up thinking space
-
English fluent (working language)
-
Willingness to travel (~10–20%)- supplier yards, ports, lender meetings, group offsites
-
Valid work / residence permit for the respective country / EU
-
You will have the opportunity to challenge the status quo and work on an innovative venture with significant impact
-
You will be able to take ownership and shape the future of metal recycling and green energy solutions at an early stage
-
We offer a competitive salary including virtual company shares
-
We offer an environment with flat hierarchies and a steep learning curve with exciting growth opportunities
-
You will benefit from flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely or from a shared office location
-
We promote an inclusive, diverse and supportive work environment
