Senior Fintech Identity & Access Architect

The Role

A sophisticated fintech organisation in Estonia is seeking a Senior Fintech Identity & Access Architect to design the identity architecture protecting customer accounts, employee systems, financial services, APIs, and privileged infrastructure.

This position is central to the organisation’s security model. You will establish identity and access controls that allow legitimate users and services to operate efficiently while preventing unauthorised access to sensitive financial systems.

Core Responsibilities

• Define enterprise identity and access-management architecture across cloud, applications, infrastructure, and financial platforms.
• Design identity models based on least privilege, zero-trust principles, and strong authentication.
• Establish architectures for workforce identity, customer identity, machine identity, and privileged access.
• Design secure authentication and authorisation patterns for APIs and distributed services.
• Implement role-based and attribute-based access-control strategies where appropriate.
• Establish lifecycle processes for onboarding, access changes, privilege escalation, and deprovisioning.
• Work with security engineering teams on MFA, secrets management, certificate management, and privileged-access controls.
• Integrate identity capabilities with cloud platforms, SaaS applications, internal systems, and financial services.
• Establish identity monitoring and anomaly-detection capabilities.
• Conduct architectural reviews of systems handling sensitive financial and customer information.
• Support security investigations involving authentication, authorisation, and account-access events.
• Develop standards, reference architectures, and technical controls for identity security.
• Mentor engineers and security specialists working on IAM capabilities.

Technical Environment

The role may involve technologies and standards including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM, IAM platforms, privileged-access management, cloud identity services, Kubernetes, API gateways, secrets-management systems, and zero-trust security architectures.

Candidate Profile

• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IAM, security architecture, or enterprise technology.
• Strong expertise in identity and access management across cloud and distributed environments.
• Deep understanding of authentication, authorisation, federation, privileged access, and identity lifecycle management.
• Experience securing APIs and microservice architectures.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security and modern identity standards.
• Experience within fintech, banking, payments, or another highly regulated environment is highly advantageous.
• Strong architectural documentation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Relevant security certifications are advantageous.
