Senior Financial Identity Engineer

Build Secure Digital Identity Infrastructure for Modern Financial Services

An innovative fintech organization in Estonia is looking for a highly skilled Senior Financial Identity Engineer to design and develop identity infrastructure supporting secure customer onboarding, authentication, authorization, account access, and financial-service interactions.

This role sits at the intersection of identity engineering, cybersecurity, financial technology, and customer experience. You will build the systems that establish trust between customers, financial platforms, employees, and external services while ensuring that identity processes remain secure, scalable, and easy to operate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop identity services supporting digital financial products.
  • Build secure authentication and authorization capabilities across customer and internal platforms.
  • Develop identity workflows covering registration, account verification, authentication, recovery, and access management.
  • Integrate identity services with banking, payment, KYC, fraud-prevention, and customer-management platforms.
  • Implement modern identity protocols and secure token-management mechanisms.
  • Design authorization models for customers, employees, service accounts, and third-party applications.
  • Establish secure processes for privileged access and service-to-service authentication.
  • Develop monitoring and detection capabilities for suspicious authentication and access activity.
  • Work closely with cybersecurity and compliance teams to strengthen identity controls.
  • Improve identity-service reliability, latency, scalability, and operational resilience.
  • Conduct technical reviews of identity architectures and security-sensitive implementations.
  • Investigate identity-related incidents and lead technical remediation.
  • Mentor engineers and establish secure identity-development practices across engineering teams.

What You Bring

  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, identity engineering, application security, or cybersecurity.
  • Strong experience designing and operating authentication and authorization systems.
  • Excellent understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, SSO, MFA, and identity federation.
  • Strong backend-development capabilities using Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Experience working with APIs, distributed systems, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of encryption, secrets management, access control, and secure software development.
  • Experience in fintech, banking, payments, or another security-sensitive environment is highly valuable.
  • Strong understanding of identity lifecycle management and privileged-access concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving and technical communication skills.

Technical Environment

The environment may include OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, IAM platforms, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, API gateways, PostgreSQL, Redis, secrets-management systems, MFA services, SIEM platforms, and automated security testing.
