A growing fintech organization in Estonia is seeking a Senior Financial Automation Engineer to design intelligent systems that automate high-volume financial operations, reconciliation, reporting, and internal finance workflows.

This is a specialized engineering opportunity for someone who understands how automation can eliminate manual processes while maintaining the accuracy and control required in financial environments. You will work across finance, engineering, data, operations, and product teams to create technology that makes financial operations faster, more reliable, and easier to scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop automated platforms for financial operations and internal finance workflows.
• Build systems for transaction reconciliation, settlement validation, exception management, and financial data processing.
• Automate repetitive financial processes while maintaining strong controls and auditability.
• Develop integrations between accounting systems, payment platforms, banking providers, and internal financial systems.
• Build automated workflows for transaction matching and exception identification.
• Develop monitoring mechanisms that detect data inconsistencies, processing failures, and unusual financial events.
• Create reliable reporting pipelines supporting finance, operations, management, and regulatory requirements.
• Use APIs, workflow engines, scripting, and data-processing technologies to eliminate manual operational bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with finance specialists to understand complex operational processes and convert them into scalable technology solutions.
• Establish automated testing and validation mechanisms for critical financial workflows.
• Improve the resilience and scalability of existing financial operations infrastructure.
• Analyze operational performance and identify opportunities for further automation and process optimization.
• Document system architecture, controls, workflows, and operational procedures.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, financial systems, automation engineering, or financial technology.
• Strong experience building workflow automation and integration solutions.
• Good understanding of financial operations, transaction processing, reconciliation, or accounting technology.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, TypeScript, or another modern programming language.
• Strong SQL and database experience.
• Experience working with APIs, webhooks, message queues, and third-party financial systems.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and automated deployment practices.
• Strong understanding of data integrity, audit trails, access controls, and operational monitoring.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with both finance professionals and engineering teams.

Technology Environment

The role may involve Python, SQL, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, workflow automation platforms, Kafka, cloud services, serverless infrastructure, data pipelines, monitoring systems, and financial reconciliation engines.
