Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to support the delivery of reliable, secure, and high-performing fintech applications. The role focuses on validating software functionality, identifying defects, improving test coverage, and ensuring that new features meet business requirements before release.
The successful candidate will work closely with software developers, product specialists, business analysts, and DevOps engineers throughout the software development lifecycle. Responsibilities will include designing test scenarios, executing functional and regression tests, automating repetitive testing activities, and investigating defects affecting digital payments, account management, financial reporting, and transaction-processing systems.
This position is suited to a quality-focused professional who combines analytical thinking with practical testing experience and understands the importance of software reliability in financial services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on functional specifications and user stories.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end testing across fintech applications.
- Validate payment workflows, transaction records, account balances, reporting outputs, and other critical financial operations.
- Design and maintain automated tests using appropriate frameworks and programming languages.
- Identify, document, prioritise, and track software defects through resolution and verification.
- Conduct API testing to validate request handling, response structures, error management, and integration behaviour.
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce complex defects and establish their underlying causes.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, release reviews, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Validate application behaviour across supported browsers, devices, operating systems, and deployment environments.
- Maintain clear test documentation, quality reports, and release-readiness evidence.
- Contribute to improvements in testing standards, defect prevention, and quality assurance processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least two years of experience in software quality assurance or application testing.
- Practical knowledge of functional testing, regression testing, test design techniques, and defect management.
- Experience with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Postman, or comparable testing technologies.
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, SQL, and relational database concepts.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile development, and issue-tracking platforms such as Jira.
- Ability to translate business requirements into structured and measurable test scenarios.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear technical documentation abilities.
- Experience testing banking, payments, trading, or other financial applications is an advantage.
Technical Environment
The testing environment may include JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, Playwright, Selenium, Postman, SQL databases, Git-based repositories, containerised applications, and automated CI/CD workflows. Candidates should be comfortable working in collaborative engineering environments where quality is integrated into every development stage.
What This Opportunity Offers
- The opportunity to contribute to dependable financial technology products.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and product teams.
- Exposure to test automation, API validation, and modern software delivery practices.
- Opportunities to improve testing standards and influence release quality.
- Professional development in fintech quality engineering and automated testing.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is methodical, curious, and committed to preventing defects rather than merely identifying them after development. They can investigate unexpected behaviour, communicate findings constructively, and balance thorough testing with practical delivery deadlines.
