Description
The Role
As a Senior Product Specialist, you’ll take full ownership of your designated domain(s) and lead the execution of large-scale, high-complexity operational initiatives. Beyond driving improvement, you’ll set the operational standard for your domain — designing new processes that are sustainable, compliant, and scalable — and create the conditions for less senior team members to execute with clarity and accountability.
You’ll shape how Grow Operations evolves: embedding operational considerations into every phase of product development, influencing how the team’s priorities are set, and ensuring the team’s work is always grounded in operational reality and Grow Operations’ strategic mission. You work with Product, not for it.
Grow Operations protects the customer by keeping Wise’s operations trustworthy, compliant, and seamless. In this role, you’ll elevate that mission by setting the operational standard for your domain and driving the high-complexity initiatives that scale it — so that new products, regulations, and market expansions land cleanly in Operations, and so that the team has the clarity, KPIs, and protocols it needs to execute with confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Create vision and operational strategy for your domain(s) aligned with Grow Operations’ mission and the broader context of Wise. Define team-level priorities and translate them into actionable plans.
-
Take ownership of high-complexity operational initiatives from discovery to execution. Structure the roadmap, coordinate across teams, conduct testing, and iterate.
-
Lead initiatives to scale operations for new and existing products, ensuring long-term efficiency, risk mitigation, and sustainable automation — with particular focus on reducing manual workload for the team.
-
Engage cross-functional teams to drive operational alignment. Represent Grow Operations in broader organisational discussions and set the standard for how Operations and Product work together — clear, grounded in Ops reality, and not dependent on the team.
-
Act as the first-level escalation point for complex or high-severity domain issues. Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to validate and mitigate risks, and ensure the team has documented protocols for common issue patterns.
-
Define and track KPIs for large-scale projects and domain-level health. Ensure business impact is measurable, guarantee domain KPIs stay relevant, and ensure new areas have established KPIs and SLAs.
-
Mentor Product Specialists, especially on project leadership, problem framing, and success definition. Lead team planning sessions and ensure Senior Specialists have clarity on their deliverables.
-
Take ownership of cross-team initiatives, driving operational impact at the Grow Operations level and beyond. Regularly share learnings and best practices with the broader team.
-
You’re placed in Tallinn, and have a right to work here (we won’t be able to support with visas nor relocation for this role).
-
Proven Delivery at Scale: You’ve successfully delivered high complexity operational initiatives end-to-end, with a high project completion rate and clear, measurable operational impact. Your project documentation is high quality and understandable to any stakeholder.
-
Data-Driven: You’re comfortable sourcing your own data, building dashboards using BI tools (like Looker), and using data to scope problems, measure impact, and inform solutions.
-
Operational Acumen: You’ve the macro view of operational risk, defects, and gaps within your domain, and deep knowledge of the critical processes and controls owned by Grow Operations.
-
Problem Solver & Communicator: You’re hypothesis-driven, validate problems and solutions before investing project time, and apply risk assessment matrices and process optimisation methodologies depending on the opportunity. You present complex operational problems to various audiences with clarity and adaptability — including at Product Squad days.
-
Goal-Oriented: You independently set clear quarterly OKRs aligned with Grow Operations strategy, break down complex problems with structured frameworks, and define accurate forecasts and KPIs.
-
Customer > Team > Ego: You keep the operational team’s needs at the centre of your prioritisation — recognising that robust, reliable operations are what ultimately protects the customer.
-
Strategic Impact: You operate independently, with guidance needed only on the highest-complexity or highest-risk items. SLA compliance and control execution are non-negotiable baselines, not best-efforts.
-
Stakeholder Management: You’re acknowledged by Product, Engineers, and banking partners as a domain expert and a valuable partner. You influence Product-team-level prioritisation, build strong cross-functional relationships, and communicate clearly about solutions, incidents, and operational changes.
-
Mentorship: You guide Product Specialists on project leadership, prioritisation, problem framing, and success definition, and regularly share learnings and best practices with the broader team.
-
Mission Driven: You map mission impact when scoping new initiatives and are comfortable providing direct feedback when actions or solutions contradict Wise’s principles/mission or introduce unnecessary risk.
