Position Summary & Objectives:

Please note, this is a 18 month maternity cover role.

The Logistics Manager is responsible for end-to-end oversight of Bolt’s global logistics operations, covering the movement of goods across Europe, Asia, and beyond. This role leads a lean cross-regional team, manages key logistics partnerships, drives cost efficiency, and ensures regulatory compliance across all lanes. The Logistics Manager is the subject-matter authority on international freight, dangerous goods regulations, and logistics systems, while actively embracing AI-powered tools and data-driven thinking to push continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

Global Operations Oversight

• Own and oversee all global logistics operations, including inbound and outbound freight across EU, China, US, Central Asia, and other active markets.
• Develop and maintain strategic transport routes, balancing cost, lead time, compliance, and reliability across multi-modal lanes (road, air, sea).
• Lead logistics expansion research: evaluate new markets, carriers, and routing options to support Bolt’s operational growth.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for high-complexity or high-value shipments, ensuring timely resolution of delays, customs issues, and exceptions.

Inventory Management support

• Support inventory oversight across active markets, including tracking stock levels, monitoring shortages, and conducting regular inventory analysis.
• Collaborate with warehouse and regional teams to ensure stock accuracy and timely replenishment in coordination with logistics flows.

Logistics Financial Oversight

• Audit, validate, and process all incoming international and domestic transportation invoices, actively resolving billing errors or duplicate entries.
• Plan for optimising transportation processes and solutions to drive measurable cost efficiency.

Team Leadership

• Lead and develop a team of logistics specialists, allocating workload, setting priorities, and supporting professional growth.
• Serve as a working manager – hands-on in daily operations while maintaining the strategic perspective needed for planning and stakeholder alignment.

Dangerous Goods & Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with applicable dangerous goods transport regulations for all shipment modes.
• Own and maintain SOPs for dangerous goods packaging, labelling, documentation, and carrier selection.
• Coordinate all dangerous goods-related activities with an external Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA).

Customs & Trade Compliance

• Oversee customs processes across all active markets, including customs code classification, import declarations, and documentation accuracy.
• Manage customs documentation workflows and ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Liaise with customs brokers, freight agents, and local authorities to resolve assessments, holds, or compliance queries.

Partnership Management

• Own relationships with logistics service providers: freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers.
• Conduct periodic performance reviews of all logistics partners; lead renegotiations or re-tendering when required.
• Identify and onboard new partners to fill geographic gaps or improve service quality and cost.

KPIs, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Define, track, and report logistics KPIs.
• Set new KPIs as operations evolve; retire or revise metrics that no longer reflect business priorities.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives across transport modes and routes.
• Lead root-cause analysis on operational failures and implement lasting process improvements.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Act as the logistics subject-matter expert for internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
• Collaborate with regional teams to align delivery schedules with hardware deployment plans.
• Support procurement and other teams on logistics feasibility and cost modelling.

Systems & Technology

• Work confidently across logistics and operational systems (Cargoson, Workday, Telema, etc); drive adoption of new tooling where relevant.
• AI-assisted workflows: leverage automation, AI tools, and data analysis to increase speed, reduce manual effort, and surface operational insights.
• Contribute to the selection and implementation of new logistics technology that improves visibility, compliance, or efficiency.

Requirements:

Essential

• 3+ years of experience in international logistics, with direct hands-on experience in EU, China, and US freight lanes.
• Demonstrated expertise in dangerous goods transport – lithium-ion batteries strongly preferred.
• Solid knowledge of customs procedures, customs code classification, Incoterms, and trade compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Proven ability to manage external logistics partners and negotiate service agreements.
• Strong data literacy: comfortable defining KPIs, working with logistics data, and drawing actionable conclusions.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred

• Experience managing cross-regional or remote logistics teams.
• Familiarity with systems such as Cargoson, Workday, or Telema.
• Background in micromobility, consumer electronics, or hardware-intensive operations.
• Track record of using AI tools or automation to streamline logistics workflows.
• IATA certification or equivalent dangerous goods qualification.
