About the role

We’re building an AI-supported accounting service within   New Bets group to make high-quality accounting accessible to thousands of small businesses. By combining technology with the expertise of accountants, we’re looking to reduce repetitive accounting work while ensuring that important financial decisions remain in expert hands.
As our first Senior Accounting Lead, you’ll have a unique role: providing accounting services while helping shape how those services are delivered. You’ll work closely with our Product and Engineering teams, bringing your accounting expertise to help improve and automate accounting processes, establish the right accounting rules and ensure the platform supports accurate and compliant accounting. If you’ve worked across Nordic or Baltic markets, helped introduce or improve accounting technology, or enjoy finding ways to make accounting processes more efficient through automation and AI, you’ll have the opportunity to apply that experience while influencing how the service develops.
You’ll start by working hands-on with clients while establishing the foundations for an accounting operation that can grow over time. As the service expands, you’ll build and lead the accounting team, with the processes and standards you establish becoming the blueprint for future markets.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality bookkeeping, VAT compliance and financial reporting for clients using our AI-supported accounting platform.
• Work with Product and Engineering, bringing your accounting expertise to help improve the automation of accounting processes, establish accounting rules and ensure new platform functionality works correctly from an accounting perspective.
• Review accounting work produced with the support of AI, ensuring it is accurate and compliant before it is delivered to clients.
• Establish accounting processes, quality standards and review procedures that can support the service as it grows.
• Build strong relationships with clients, acting as their trusted accounting partner.
• Hire, onboard and develop the accounting team as the service expands.

About you

• You have proven experience in bookkeeping, tax compliance and statutory financial reporting across multiple clients, ideally in an accounting firm, BPO or shared service environment.
• You possess strong knowledge of Estonian accounting practices, including VAT, statutory reporting, cross-border VAT treatment and local compliance requirements.
• You have experience working with established ERP or accounting systems, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and ways of working.
• You have proven experience hiring, mentoring or leading accountants and helping teams succeed.
• You are comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where you’ll establish new accounting processes from the ground up while balancing hands-on accounting responsibilities with continuous improvement.
• You are fluent in Estonian and English. Russian fluency would be a plus.
