Description

An innovative financial-technology organisation in Estonia is looking for an FX Data Engineer to develop the data infrastructure supporting foreign-exchange platforms, market intelligence, pricing systems, and trading operations.

The role is ideal for a developer who enjoys working with large-scale financial datasets, real-time pipelines, data quality, and distributed processing.

Your Technical Focus

You will help create the data layer through which FX information moves from external sources into trading and analytical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable pipelines for FX market and transaction data.
  • Ingest, normalize, enrich, and distribute real-time financial information.
  • Develop services for processing quotes, trades, orders, positions, and execution events.
  • Implement data-validation mechanisms to identify incomplete, inconsistent, or anomalous records.
  • Build reliable historical-data storage and retrieval processes.
  • Optimize data pipelines for throughput, latency, and resource efficiency.
  • Develop APIs and services consumed by trading and financial applications.
  • Implement automated data-quality and regression testing.
  • Monitor pipeline health and investigate processing failures.
  • Support secure data access and appropriate data-governance practices.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, quantitative specialists, product teams, and financial-operations professionals.

Required Skills

  • Professional experience in data engineering, backend development, or a closely related field.
  • Strong Python, Java, Scala, Go, or similar programming experience.
  • Excellent SQL and database knowledge.
  • Experience with streaming or event-driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with Kafka, Spark, Flink, Redis, or comparable technologies.
  • Understanding of APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, and containerized environments.
  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Interest in financial markets, FX, trading, or financial technology.

Advantageous Experience

Knowledge of market-data feeds, FIX, time-series databases, pricing systems, liquidity data, or electronic trading environments would be particularly relevant.

What You Will Build

Your work will support the data infrastructure behind financial applications where data freshness, consistency, traceability, and reliability are critical. This is a specialist engineering role with significant technical depth and no managerial responsibility.
