About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Fraud Analyst to identify, assess, and help prevent fraudulent activity across digital payment services and financial transactions. The successful candidate will analyse transaction patterns, investigate suspicious account behaviour, and support the implementation of controls designed to protect customers, payment operations, and business assets.
Working with fraud prevention, compliance, customer operations, and technical teams, you will use data-driven analysis to identify emerging threats and improve the effectiveness of fraud detection processes. This position is suited to someone who combines analytical thinking with sound judgment, careful documentation, and the ability to make evidence-based decisions in a fast-moving financial technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor payment transactions, account activity, and customer behaviour to identify suspicious patterns and potential fraud indicators.
- Investigate fraud alerts involving unusual transfers, account takeovers, payment manipulation, identity misuse, and other suspicious activities.
- Analyse transaction histories, device information, customer records, and available digital evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding suspected fraud.
- Review cases flagged by automated monitoring systems and determine appropriate outcomes based on established procedures.
- Identify recurring fraud patterns and recommend adjustments to detection rules, risk thresholds, and investigative workflows.
- Collaborate with customer support and operations teams to investigate disputed transactions and respond to reported fraud incidents.
- Document investigation findings, supporting evidence, decisions, and recommendations in accordance with internal case-management standards.
- Escalate complex or high-risk cases to relevant fraud, compliance, or security specialists.
- Prepare reports highlighting fraud trends, investigation outcomes, emerging risks, and opportunities to strengthen preventive controls.
- Support the testing and improvement of fraud detection systems and contribute to initiatives that reduce false positives without weakening essential safeguards.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree or equivalent professional experience in finance, economics, accounting, statistics, information systems, criminology, or a related field.
- Experience in fraud analysis, payment operations, transaction monitoring, banking, fintech, or financial crime prevention is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret transaction data, identify anomalies, and assess competing explanations.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, case-management systems, transaction-monitoring tools, or data visualisation platforms.
- Understanding of payment fraud, account takeover, identity fraud, and customer authentication risks.
- Excellent written communication, attention to detail, and investigative documentation skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and apply internal procedures consistently.
What We Offer
- Exposure to digital payment systems and modern fraud prevention technologies.
- Opportunities to develop investigative, analytical, and financial crime prevention skills.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams working on customer protection and operational resilience.
- A professional environment that encourages continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.
Ideal Candidate: An analytical professional who can recognise suspicious behaviour, investigate cases methodically, and turn transaction data into practical fraud prevention recommendations.
