Role Summary

The FX Trader will monitor foreign exchange markets, analyse price movements and execute currency trades in accordance with approved trading strategies and risk parameters. The role requires a strong understanding of macroeconomic developments, technical market analysis, liquidity conditions and trade execution practices.

The successful candidate will contribute to trading performance through disciplined decision-making, consistent risk monitoring and accurate documentation of trading activity.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor major currency pairs and relevant foreign exchange market developments.

• Analyse economic indicators, central bank announcements, interest rate decisions and geopolitical events affecting currency valuations.

• Execute FX trades in accordance with approved strategies, position limits and risk controls.

• Apply technical and fundamental analysis to identify potential trading opportunities.

• Monitor open positions, exposure, drawdown and market volatility throughout trading sessions.

• Maintain accurate trading records and document the rationale for material trading decisions.

• Coordinate with risk and operations teams on execution issues, position discrepancies and settlement-related matters.

• Review trading performance and identify opportunities to improve execution quality and strategy discipline.

• Maintain awareness of liquidity conditions, spreads and execution costs.

• Follow applicable internal trading policies and relevant regulatory requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business or a related discipline.

• At least three years of experience in FX trading, currency markets or a closely related trading role.

• Strong understanding of major currency pairs, foreign exchange market structure and trading instruments.

• Practical experience with trading terminals, charting tools and market analysis platforms.

• Knowledge of technical indicators, macroeconomic analysis and trade risk management.

• Ability to evaluate market information and make decisions under changing conditions.

• Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.

• Understanding of position sizing, stop-loss discipline and exposure limits.

• Relevant financial markets certifications are an advantage.
