Role Summary

The Fintech Financial Data Quality Analyst will assess the accuracy, completeness and consistency of financial data across internal systems and reporting platforms. The role involves reviewing transaction records, validating data outputs, investigating discrepancies and supporting improvements to data quality controls.

The successful candidate will work with data engineering, finance, product and operations teams to identify data issues and ensure that financial information is reliable for reporting and analysis.

This position requires strong analytical skills, an understanding of financial data structures and the ability to investigate inconsistencies across complex datasets.

Key Responsibilities

• Review financial datasets to assess accuracy, completeness and consistency.

• Perform data quality checks across transaction records, customer account information and financial reporting systems.

• Identify duplicate records, missing values, inconsistent formats and unexpected data variations.

• Investigate discrepancies between source systems and downstream reporting platforms.

• Work with data engineers and application teams to resolve data-related issues.

• Develop and maintain data quality rules, validation procedures and monitoring reports.

• Support the documentation of financial data definitions and reporting standards.

• Analyse recurring data issues and recommend measures to prevent their reoccurrence.

• Validate data transformations and outputs used in financial reporting and analytics.

• Prepare regular reports covering data quality indicators, identified issues and remediation progress.

• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to understand the business impact of data inconsistencies.

• Assist with data migration and system implementation activities by validating transferred information.

• Support the improvement of automated data validation processes.

• Maintain clear records of data quality findings, corrective actions and control procedures.

• Follow internal data governance, confidentiality and information security requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Statistics or a related field.

• Experience in data analysis, data quality assurance, financial reporting or fintech operations.

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured datasets.

• Understanding of data validation, data reconciliation and data quality principles.

• Proficiency in Excel or comparable analytical tools.

• Familiarity with databases, data pipelines and business intelligence platforms.

• Ability to investigate data discrepancies and identify root causes.

• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.

• Experience documenting data definitions and validation procedures.

• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and business teams.

• Understanding of financial transactions or digital banking data is an advantage.

• Familiarity with Python or data quality automation tools is beneficial.
