We are seeking a highly capable Fintech Data Engineer to design and maintain the data infrastructure supporting modern financial products, transaction processing, analytics, and operational intelligence.

This is a hands-on engineering role for a professional who enjoys working with complex datasets and building reliable pipelines capable of handling sensitive financial information at scale.

The Role

You will develop data infrastructure connecting transactional systems, payment platforms, customer applications, analytical environments, and external financial services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for financial applications.
• Build reliable ingestion and transformation processes for transactional and operational data.
• Integrate data from payment platforms, banking systems, APIs, databases, and third-party services.
• Develop batch and real-time data-processing workflows.
• Implement data validation, quality controls, lineage, and reconciliation mechanisms.
• Optimise data models for analytics, reporting, and operational applications.
• Work with engineering teams to improve the reliability and scalability of data infrastructure.
• Develop automated monitoring for pipeline failures, anomalies, and data-quality issues.
• Support secure handling of sensitive financial and customer information.
• Investigate inconsistencies between source systems and analytical datasets.
• Maintain technical documentation covering pipelines, schemas, data models, and dependencies.
• Contribute to cloud-based data-platform architecture and infrastructure improvements.

Technical Environment

Strong experience with Python and SQL is expected. Experience with technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud would be valuable.

Experience with event-driven architecture, data warehouses, data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD is highly relevant.

Candidate Profile

You should have professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, analytics engineering, or a related discipline.

Strong candidates will demonstrate:

• Excellent SQL and data-modelling skills.
• Strong Python or comparable programming capability.
• Experience building production-grade data pipelines.
• Understanding of distributed data-processing systems.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases.
• Experience with cloud data environments.
• High attention to data accuracy and integrity.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Understanding of security considerations around financial data.

Experience within fintech, banking, payments, insurance, investment technology, or financial data platforms would be an advantage.
