Description
We are seeking a Financial API Security Specialist to strengthen the security of these interfaces and help establish robust protection across the organization’s API ecosystem.
This specialist role combines application security, API security, identity management, threat analysis, and financial technology.
Your Responsibilities
- Assess the security architecture of internal and external financial APIs.
- Design and implement API-security controls covering authentication, authorization, access management, and data protection.
- Review API specifications and technical designs for security weaknesses.
- Conduct security assessments of new financial integrations.
- Develop standards for secure API development and deployment.
- Monitor API activity for suspicious patterns and potential abuse.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities.
- Support security testing, penetration testing, and vulnerability-management activities.
- Improve secrets management, credential protection, token handling, and certificate management.
- Establish appropriate controls for third-party integrations.
- Investigate API-related security incidents and contribute to remediation.
- Develop security documentation, standards, and developer guidance.
- Track emerging API-security threats and recommend appropriate defensive measures.
Professional Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in application security, API security, cybersecurity engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and token-based security.
- Knowledge of common API vulnerabilities and secure-development practices.
- Experience with API gateways, web-application security, identity platforms, and security testing.
- Understanding of cloud-security principles and modern software architectures.
- Familiarity with financial applications, payment systems, or regulated technology environments is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and incident-investigation capabilities.
- Ability to work directly with software engineers and communicate security requirements clearly.
What You Will Contribute
You will help create a security architecture capable of supporting extensive financial connectivity without unnecessarily restricting legitimate product development.
Your work will span architecture reviews, engineering collaboration, security testing, incident response, and long-term security standards.
The Opportunity
This position offers a technically focused path into fintech cybersecurity, with direct responsibility for protecting the interfaces that connect modern financial services. It is suited to a security specialist who wants to work on complex, highly interconnected financial technology rather than conventional enterprise IT alone.
