Role Overview

We are seeking an Embedded-Finance Engineer to help design and deliver the technical foundations for financial features embedded within non-financial products and business platforms.

In this role, you will work across backend services, API layers, data models, and third-party integrations to support capabilities such as digital account services, financial reporting, payment workflows, and business finance automation. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, infrastructure engineers, and external providers to translate product requirements into secure, maintainable software.

The successful candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with an interest in financial technology, platform architecture, and delivering reliable customer-facing products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend components supporting embedded financial products and business workflows.
• Develop reusable APIs and software services that allow partner applications to consume financial functionality.
• Integrate third-party providers for identity verification, financial data, payment processing, account services, and related capabilities.
• Build data models and processing services for transactions, balances, account activity, and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with product teams to assess technical requirements, define integration approaches, and deliver new product capabilities.
• Implement service-level validation, permissions, audit trails, and controls for sensitive financial operations.
• Design scalable, modular architectures that support additional financial products, providers, and customer integrations.
• Improve system observability through monitoring, metrics, tracing, and structured logging.
• Develop automated tests and participate in peer reviews to maintain software quality.
• Support deployment automation and cloud infrastructure improvements in collaboration with platform and DevOps teams.
• Investigate technical issues, resolve integration failures, and improve application reliability.
• Maintain clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience developing backend services, APIs, or software platforms in a production environment.
• Proficiency in one or more backend technologies, such as Java, Kotlin, Python, TypeScript, C#, or Go.
• Understanding of REST APIs, service-oriented architecture, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL databases, data modelling, and third-party service integration.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, automated deployment, and CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorisation, encryption, and secure handling of financial or personal data.
• Ability to design maintainable software and communicate technical trade-offs clearly.
• Experience with embedded finance, banking platforms, digital wallets, lending technology, or financial automation is an advantage.
• Familiarity with European data protection and financial services requirements is beneficial.
• Professional working proficiency in English; Estonian language skills are an advantage.
