Description

Company Overview

The organisation operates within the financial technology sector, supporting digital financial services that require effective liquidity management, accurate financial information, and reliable movement of funds across banking and payment networks. Its operating environment depends on timely treasury reporting, appropriate cash allocation, effective banking relationships, and strong internal controls to support daily financial activities.

As financial services become increasingly digital and interconnected, treasury functions must maintain a clear view of available funds, expected inflows and outflows, settlement obligations, and potential liquidity pressures. Accurate cash forecasting and disciplined reconciliation processes are essential to ensuring that operational teams can meet financial commitments without unnecessary delays or funding inefficiencies.

The organisation is seeking a Treasury Analyst to support its treasury activities through financial analysis, liquidity monitoring, cash-flow forecasting, and reporting. The successful candidate will work with finance, accounting, payments, and operations teams to maintain reliable treasury information and support informed financial decisions.

Role Summary

The Treasury Analyst will help monitor cash positions, analyse liquidity requirements, prepare treasury reports, and support the day-to-day management of financial resources. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret financial data from multiple sources, including bank statements, internal ledgers, payment systems, and forecasting models.

The successful candidate will contribute to cash-flow planning, bank account monitoring, settlement funding, financial reconciliations, and the preparation of management reports. They will also help identify unusual movements, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate records of treasury transactions.

Working remotely with cross-functional teams, the Treasury Analyst must be comfortable handling confidential financial information, meeting reporting deadlines, and communicating discrepancies or emerging liquidity concerns promptly. The role offers an opportunity to develop expertise in treasury operations within a technology-driven financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily cash monitoring: Review balances across relevant bank accounts, payment accounts, and other approved financial channels to maintain an accurate view of available liquidity.

  • Cash-flow forecasting: Prepare and update short-term cash-flow forecasts using historical transaction data, expected settlements, scheduled payments, operating expenses, and anticipated receipts.

  • Liquidity analysis: Compare forecast cash requirements with available funds, identify potential shortfalls or surplus balances, and escalate material concerns to the appropriate treasury or finance personnel.

  • Bank reconciliation support: Reconcile bank statements against internal accounting records and investigate unmatched transactions, unexpected charges, duplicate entries, or timing differences.

  • Settlement funding: Support the monitoring of settlement obligations and funding requirements associated with payment processing, financial partners, and other operational activities.

  • Treasury reporting: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering cash positions, liquidity movements, funding requirements, bank balances, and other relevant treasury indicators.

  • Transaction monitoring: Review significant or unusual cash movements, verify supporting documentation, and coordinate investigations with the appropriate finance or operations teams.

  • Banking coordination: Assist with routine communication and information requests involving banking partners, payment providers, and other approved financial institutions.

  • Financial data validation: Check the completeness and accuracy of treasury data obtained from banking platforms, internal systems, spreadsheets, and financial reporting tools.

  • Working capital analysis: Help assess the timing of receivables, payables, settlement cycles, and other cash movements that affect short-term liquidity.

  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities to improve cash reporting, reconciliation workflows, forecasting templates, and treasury data collection through standardisation or automation.

  • Control compliance: Follow established approval procedures, segregation-of-duties requirements, access controls, and documentation standards when handling treasury information.

  • Audit preparation: Maintain organised supporting records for treasury transactions, reconciliations, forecast assumptions, and management reports.

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with accounting, payments operations, financial planning, and compliance teams to resolve discrepancies and maintain consistent financial information.

  • Risk escalation: Report unexplained transactions, significant forecast variances, unusual banking activity, and potential liquidity concerns through the appropriate internal channels.

  • Strong numerical reasoning and attention to detail when working with large volumes of financial information.

  • Ability to organise competing tasks, maintain reporting schedules, and meet deadlines in a remote working environment.

  • Clear written communication skills and the ability to explain financial findings to colleagues outside the treasury function.

  • A proactive approach to identifying discrepancies, documenting issues, and following investigations through to resolution.

  • Familiarity with payment settlement processes, multi-currency cash management, or fintech operations would be advantageous.
