Role Summary

The Financial Data Engineering Specialist will design, develop, and maintain data infrastructure supporting financial technology applications and business operations.

The role involves building data pipelines, integrating financial information from multiple sources, improving data quality, and ensuring reliable information delivery to reporting and analytical platforms.

The successful candidate will collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, finance specialists, and product teams to develop scalable data solutions that support financial reporting, transaction analysis, and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data pipelines supporting financial applications, payment platforms, and digital banking systems.

• Develop automated processes for collecting, transforming, and processing financial transaction data.

• Integrate information from banking systems, payment gateways, internal databases, and external financial services.

• Build and optimise data processing workflows to support high-volume financial information environments.

• Implement data validation procedures to maintain accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

• Develop and maintain database structures supporting financial reporting and analytical applications.

• Collaborate with data analysts to provide reliable datasets for business intelligence and financial performance analysis.

• Monitor pipeline performance and investigate data processing failures or inconsistencies.

• Implement automated data quality checks and appropriate error-handling mechanisms.

• Optimise SQL queries and database performance for financial data applications.

• Maintain technical documentation covering data architecture, transformation logic, and integration processes.

• Support cloud-based data infrastructure and automated deployment workflows.

• Work with security specialists to implement appropriate data access controls and information protection procedures.

• Participate in technical reviews and recommend improvements to data architecture.

• Ensure data engineering processes support internal governance and relevant financial data protection requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Relevant experience in data engineering, financial data systems, or backend data development.

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.

• Practical programming experience in Python, Java, or a comparable language.

• Experience developing ETL and ELT pipelines.

• Familiarity with data processing frameworks and cloud-based data platforms.

• Understanding of financial transaction data and payment processing workflows.

• Knowledge of data modelling, data validation, and database optimisation.

• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and deployment practices.

• Understanding of data security and governance principles.

• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.

• Professional proficiency in English.
