Description

Company Overview

The organisation operates within a financial services environment where foreign exchange pricing, market-risk measurement, and quantitative analysis support reliable trading and financial decision-making. Its analytical activities focus on understanding currency-market exposures, evaluating pricing behaviour, measuring sensitivity to market movements, and maintaining robust analytical processes.

The quantitative risk and pricing function works with trading, treasury, technology, and risk management teams to assess market exposures and support the integrity of financial models. The organisation values accurate calculations, sound model assumptions, transparent documentation, and effective communication of quantitative risks.

Role Summary

The FX Quantitative Risk & Pricing Analyst will support the development, assessment, and monitoring of quantitative methods used to analyse foreign exchange pricing and market risk. The role combines currency-market knowledge with mathematical modelling, statistical analysis, and risk measurement.

The successful candidate will analyse FX positions and market data, evaluate pricing inputs, assess sensitivity to exchange-rate movements, and investigate discrepancies between model outputs and observed market behaviour. They will contribute to model validation, stress testing, exposure analysis, and the preparation of risk reports that support informed decision-making across trading and risk functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse FX market data, exchange rates, forward points, volatility measures, and other relevant inputs used in quantitative pricing and risk calculations.

  • Support the development and maintenance of analytical models for evaluating currency exposures and market-risk sensitivities.

  • Calculate and interpret relevant risk measures, including currency exposure, sensitivity to exchange-rate changes, volatility-based measures, and scenario-based potential losses.

  • Assist with the quantitative assessment of FX spot, forward, and other relevant foreign exchange instruments, depending on the organisation’s activities.

  • Review pricing inputs and model outputs to identify inconsistencies, unusual movements, and potential data-quality problems.

  • Investigate differences between model-derived values, market observations, and approved reference prices.

  • Conduct sensitivity analysis to evaluate how changes in exchange rates, volatility, interest rates, and other relevant market variables affect pricing and risk results.

  • Support historical stress testing and scenario analysis covering significant currency movements, market shocks, and periods of heightened volatility.

  • Analyse currency-pair correlations and cross-currency relationships to identify concentrations or unexpected changes in portfolio risk.

  • Collaborate with traders and risk managers to investigate unusual exposures, explain model outputs, and communicate material quantitative findings.

  • Develop or maintain Python-based tools for data processing, model calculations, risk reporting, and analytical validation.

  • Use SQL or other data-query tools to retrieve, reconcile, and analyse market data and transaction-level information.

  • Contribute to model-validation activities by reviewing assumptions, testing calculations, checking model behaviour, and documenting limitations.

  • Monitor changes in market conditions that may affect the reliability of pricing assumptions, volatility estimates, or risk models.

  • Prepare reports and supporting documentation describing risk exposures, pricing discrepancies, stress-test results, and significant analytical findings.

  • Support improvements to model governance, data controls, calculation consistency, and reproducibility of quantitative results.

  • Escalate material model limitations, data anomalies, unexplained valuation differences, and potential breaches of established risk thresholds.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • Experience in quantitative risk, FX analytics, financial modelling, pricing analysis, treasury analytics, or a similar financial markets function.

  • Strong understanding of foreign exchange markets, including spot rates, forward rates, currency-pair conventions, volatility, and market liquidity.

  • Good knowledge of quantitative methods such as regression analysis, time-series modelling, statistical estimation, and numerical analysis.

  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, quantitative calculations, model testing, and reporting automation.

  • Familiarity with SQL, market-data systems, financial databases, or comparable analytical infrastructure.

  • Understanding of market-risk measurement, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, and scenario-based evaluation.

  • Knowledge of pricing-model assumptions, model validation, and the importance of using reliable market data.

  • Familiarity with derivatives valuation concepts and the relationship between interest rates, forward FX pricing, and exchange-rate movements is an advantage.

  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to validate numerical outputs independently.

  • Ability to identify inconsistencies, investigate root causes, and explain technical findings to both quantitative and non-quantitative stakeholders.

  • Excellent attention to detail, sound analytical judgement, and a methodical approach to documenting calculations.

  • Understanding of risk controls, model governance, and appropriate escalation procedures.

  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with distributed trading, risk, and technology teams.

Benefits

  • Remote working opportunity within Estonia, subject to employment eligibility and organisational requirements.

  • Opportunity to develop specialised expertise in FX quantitative risk, pricing analytics, and financial modelling.

  • Exposure to currency-market data, quantitative risk tools, and model-validation processes.

  • Collaboration with professionals across trading, treasury, quantitative analytics, and risk management.

  • Opportunities to strengthen programming, statistical analysis, stress testing, and financial instrument knowledge.

  • Access to relevant analytical tools and professional learning resources.

  • A structured working environment that prioritises accuracy, accountability, sound risk management, and continuous improvement.

Application Instructions

Applicants should submit a current CV outlining their experience in quantitative finance, FX risk analysis, pricing, financial modelling, or market-risk measurement. Relevant projects involving Python, statistical analysis, stress testing, valuation methods, or quantitative model validation may also be described.

Applications should be submitted through the recruiting organisation’s official application channel. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to discuss their approach to FX exposure analysis, explain how they would validate a pricing or risk model, or demonstrate how they would investigate a discrepancy between model outputs and observed market data.
