Position Summary

We are looking for a technically capable Payments Specialist to support multi-currency payment services and FX-enabled financial platforms in Estonia. This position focuses on the operational performance of digital payment systems, transaction monitoring, currency conversion workflows, and the coordination of payment services across banking partners and technology providers.

The successful candidate will work alongside product, engineering, treasury, compliance, and customer operations teams to maintain dependable payment processing and improve the performance of payment-related services. The role is particularly suited to a professional who understands digital financial products and can combine transaction-level accuracy with an interest in payment technology and process optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor payment flows across multi-currency accounts, digital wallets, business payment platforms, and supported FX-enabled financial products.

• Support the processing and reconciliation of incoming and outgoing payments, including transfers requiring foreign exchange conversion.

• Investigate transaction failures, duplicate payment records, delayed processing, currency mismatches, and discrepancies between internal and external systems.

• Coordinate with payment gateways, acquiring providers, banking partners, and third-party processors to resolve service interruptions and transaction exceptions.

• Verify that payment statuses, conversion amounts, transaction references, and applicable fees are correctly reflected across operational systems.

• Assist with the testing and operational implementation of new payment methods, currency corridors, banking integrations, and platform enhancements.

• Monitor payment processing indicators, including completion rates, exception volumes, reconciliation differences, and settlement delays.

• Support operational controls for refunds, reversals, chargebacks, failed transfers, and other payment adjustments where relevant.

• Work with compliance and risk teams to ensure payment workflows incorporate appropriate customer verification, sanctions screening, and fraud-prevention controls.

• Document recurring payment issues and collaborate with technical teams to identify root causes and improve system reliability.

• Prepare operational reports covering payment volumes, FX conversion activity, outstanding exceptions, and settlement performance.

• Contribute to process documentation, service-level monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives across the payments function.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Systems, Business, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• Relevant experience in fintech payments, digital banking operations, FX transaction processing, payment service providers, or financial technology support.

• Understanding of multi-currency payment flows, currency conversion, settlement processes, and transaction reconciliation.

• Familiarity with payment APIs, banking integrations, payment gateways, or transaction monitoring platforms is advantageous.

• Experience working with spreadsheets, operational dashboards, case management tools, and financial systems.

• Ability to analyse transaction data, identify processing irregularities, and document findings clearly.

• Awareness of applicable EU payment services requirements, data protection obligations, and financial crime controls.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate issues across technical and non-technical teams.

• Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement, and a structured approach to operational problem-solving.

• Professional English proficiency; additional European language skills are an advantage.
