Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Fintech Risk and Fraud Analyst to support the monitoring, assessment, and mitigation of financial risks across digital payment and financial technology services in Estonia. The successful candidate will analyse transaction activity, investigate suspicious patterns, assess potential exposure, and contribute to the development of effective fraud-prevention controls.

The role requires a combination of analytical thinking, investigative ability, financial awareness, and an understanding of how digital financial products can be exposed to fraud, account misuse, and operational vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review transaction activity and account behaviour to identify unusual patterns, potentially fraudulent transactions, and emerging risks.

  • Investigate alerts generated by transaction-monitoring systems and document findings in accordance with internal procedures.

  • Analyse payment disputes, suspicious account activity, chargeback trends, and reported cases of unauthorised transactions.

  • Apply risk-based assessment methods to distinguish legitimate customer activity from potentially harmful behaviour.

  • Prepare investigation reports and escalate material concerns to the appropriate risk, compliance, or management teams.

  • Support the development and refinement of fraud-detection rules, risk indicators, and monitoring procedures.

  • Analyse historical case data to identify recurring fraud patterns and opportunities to strengthen preventive controls.

  • Work with payments operations, customer support, engineering, and compliance teams to improve investigation outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate case documentation and ensure that sensitive customer information is handled appropriately.

  • Contribute to internal risk reports, operational reviews, and recommendations for improving fraud controls.

  • Follow applicable internal policies and relevant European Union and Estonian requirements within the scope of the role.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

  • Experience in fraud analysis, financial operations, transaction monitoring, risk assessment, or a similar analytical position.

  • Strong numerical reasoning and the ability to interpret transaction data and identify meaningful patterns.

  • Proficiency in Excel or comparable analytical tools; SQL and experience with data-visualisation platforms are advantageous.

  • Understanding of payment fraud, account takeover, identity misuse, chargebacks, and transaction-monitoring processes.

  • Strong investigative writing skills and the ability to support conclusions with documented evidence.

  • High standards of confidentiality, accuracy, professional judgement, and ethical conduct.

  • Familiarity with AML/KYC processes and European financial-services regulation is an advantage.

Working Approach

The analyst will work with transaction-monitoring platforms, case-management tools, reporting systems, and data-analysis applications. The role requires careful documentation, consistent application of risk procedures, and sound escalation decisions.

Why This Opportunity?

You will help protect digital financial services against financial crime while supporting safer and more reliable customer transactions. The position provides opportunities to strengthen analytical skills, deepen knowledge of payment risks, and contribute to the continuous improvement of fintech risk controls.

Ideal candidate: An analytical and methodical professional who can investigate complex transaction patterns, communicate findings clearly, and balance fraud prevention with a fair, risk-based customer experience.
