An international fintech environment is looking for an Open Banking API Specialist to work on the technical infrastructure connecting digital financial products with banks and financial institutions.

This is a specialist individual-contributor role focused on API integration, financial connectivity, data exchange and secure digital banking infrastructure.

Your Focus

You will help build and maintain dependable connections between financial platforms, ensuring that account information, payment instructions and related financial data can move securely and accurately between systems.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrations with banking and financial-service APIs.
• Implement secure API connectivity for account and payment services.
• Work with REST, JSON, OAuth and other modern integration technologies.
• Analyse API specifications and translate them into production integrations.
• Monitor API performance, availability and transaction responses.
• Investigate failed requests, inconsistent responses and integration issues.
• Implement appropriate error handling and retry mechanisms.
• Build automated integration and regression tests.
• Maintain technical documentation for banking integrations.
• Collaborate with software engineers and product specialists on new financial capabilities.
• Support continuous improvements to API reliability and integration performance.
• Investigate changes to third-party API specifications and assess technical impact.

What You Bring

• Professional experience in API development, systems integration, backend engineering or open banking technology.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API architecture.
• Experience with JSON, OAuth 2.0, authentication and secure data exchange.
• Programming experience in Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, Go or similar.
• Good knowledge of HTTP, webhooks and asynchronous communication.
• Experience with API testing and monitoring tools.
• Understanding of databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with cloud-based systems and CI/CD.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent professional English.

Advantageous Experience

Experience with open banking, account information services, payment initiation, PSD2-related technology, banking APIs, financial aggregators or payment platforms will be particularly valuable.
