Description

A technology-focused fintech environment in Estonia is seeking a Principal Fintech Integration Engineer to lead the engineering of reliable integrations between financial platforms, banking infrastructure, payment services, and third-party technology providers.

This is a senior technical role for an engineer who understands that successful fintech integration requires more than connecting APIs. You will help establish integration patterns that protect data integrity, maintain transaction consistency, and allow financial services to scale across increasingly complex technology ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead implementation of enterprise-grade integrations across fintech platforms.
  • Develop robust API, webhook, event-driven, and asynchronous integration patterns.
  • Integrate banking, payment, identity, accounting, and external financial-service systems.
  • Define standards for authentication, data exchange, error handling, retries, and transaction reconciliation.
  • Analyse integration failures and develop resilient mechanisms for recovery and fault tolerance.
  • Collaborate with architecture, product, security, and operations teams on strategic integrations.
  • Establish reusable integration frameworks that reduce development and maintenance effort.
  • Review technical designs and provide architectural guidance to engineering teams.
  • Develop automated integration testing and production monitoring capabilities.
  • Support migration from legacy integrations to modern API and event-based architectures.
  • Document integration contracts, dependencies, operational procedures, and technical standards.
  • Mentor engineers working on complex integration projects.

Candidate Profile

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, payments, banking technology, or fintech.
  • Strong expertise in APIs, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and integration platforms.
  • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, TypeScript, or a comparable language.
  • Strong understanding of REST, asynchronous messaging, webhooks, authentication, and service-to-service communication.
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure and production-grade distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of reliability, observability, and secure data exchange.
  • Excellent architectural judgement and technical communication skills.

Technical Environment

API gateways, microservices, event streaming, message queues, cloud infrastructure, containerised applications, integration platforms, automated testing, observability tooling, and financial-service APIs.

Why This Opportunity

You will work on the technology layer connecting critical financial services, helping establish integration infrastructure that can support rapid product expansion without compromising reliability.

Ideal Candidate: A technically accomplished integration specialist who understands both software architecture and the operational realities of financial transactions.
