Fintech Security Architect

An established technology-driven financial services operation in Estonia is looking for a Fintech Security Architect to strengthen the architecture and security foundations supporting critical digital financial platforms.

This position sits at the intersection of cybersecurity, cloud architecture, application security, identity, data protection, and financial technology. The architect will help design secure systems capable of supporting high-volume financial activity while maintaining resilience, regulatory alignment, and operational control.

The Role

You will define security architecture across customer-facing applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, internal platforms, and financial transaction systems. Working closely with engineering and infrastructure leadership, you will ensure security is integrated into architecture and development rather than treated as a final-stage control.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise security architecture for fintech platforms and services.
• Establish security patterns for APIs, microservices, cloud infrastructure, databases, and distributed systems.
• Develop identity and access-management architectures using modern authentication and authorization approaches.
• Conduct architecture reviews and threat modelling for new financial products and technology initiatives.
• Define security requirements for software development and infrastructure teams.
• Strengthen controls surrounding sensitive financial and customer data.
• Support secure cloud adoption, infrastructure hardening, and network security initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Evaluate security technologies, vendors, and architectural approaches.
• Contribute to incident-response preparedness, resilience planning, and security governance.

Candidate Profile

• 6+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, security architecture, cloud security, or related engineering disciplines.
• Strong experience with modern cloud and distributed-system architectures.
• Excellent knowledge of application security, IAM, API security, encryption, and threat modelling.
• Experience securing systems handling financial, transactional, or other highly sensitive data.
• Familiarity with European financial-sector security and data-protection expectations.
• Strong documentation, architecture-design, and stakeholder-communication abilities.

Technical Environment

Cloud infrastructure, microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, CI/CD, containerized workloads, IAM, observability platforms, security automation, encryption, and modern application-security tooling.
