A progressive fintech organisation in Estonia is seeking a Senior Open Banking Architect to design and evolve the architecture behind secure account connectivity, financial-data aggregation, payment initiation, and API-driven banking services.

This is a senior architecture position for a technology professional who understands how modern financial platforms connect customers, banks, payment providers, and third-party services.

The Opportunity

You will define architectural patterns for open-banking products while working closely with engineering, product, security, compliance, and external financial-institution partners. Your decisions will influence platform scalability, reliability, security, and developer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design scalable architectures for open-banking and account-information services.
• Develop technical standards for APIs, authentication, authorisation, and secure data exchange.
• Lead architecture initiatives involving financial institutions and external technology providers.
• Design resilient integration patterns for account aggregation and payment initiation.
• Establish standards for API performance, observability, availability, and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with security teams on identity, encryption, access control, and data protection.
• Evaluate third-party platforms and integration technologies.
• Guide engineering teams through complex architectural decisions.
• Identify technical risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to long-term platform strategy and digital-finance transformation programmes.

Candidate Profile

• Significant experience in software, platform, or solution architecture.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, distributed systems, cloud platforms, and integration architecture.
• Practical understanding of open banking, payments, financial APIs, or digital banking.
• Experience with modern security and identity technologies.
• Strong knowledge of microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Excellent technical communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience working in regulated financial or technology environments is highly desirable.
