A high-growth fintech organisation in Estonia is seeking a Principal Fintech Security Architect to define and strengthen the security architecture protecting digital financial products, customer data, payment infrastructure, and critical technology platforms.

This is a strategic technical leadership role for an experienced security professional who can operate across architecture, engineering, cloud, application security, identity, and financial technology.

The Role

You will establish security architecture principles across the organisation and work directly with engineering and technology leadership to ensure security is embedded into product and platform development from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

• Define enterprise and application security architecture for fintech platforms.
• Design security controls across cloud infrastructure, APIs, microservices, databases, and payment systems.
• Lead security architecture reviews for major technology initiatives.
• Establish identity, access-management, encryption, secrets-management, and data-protection standards.
• Partner with engineering teams to strengthen secure software-development practices.
• Assess technology risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
• Support threat modelling, vulnerability management, penetration-testing programmes, and security assessments.
• Develop architectural standards for highly available and resilient financial systems.
• Monitor emerging cyber threats and assess their potential impact on fintech operations.
• Advise senior technology leadership on security strategy and long-term investment priorities.

What You Bring

• Extensive experience in cybersecurity architecture or security engineering.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, application security, IAM, API security, and distributed systems.
• Experience within fintech, banking, payments, or another highly regulated technology environment.
• Strong understanding of secure software-development lifecycles.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud security architecture.
• Excellent ability to communicate complex security concepts to technical and executive stakeholders.
• Relevant security certifications are advantageous.
