We are seeking an accomplished Principal Payments Architect to shape the architecture of next-generation payment infrastructure supporting secure, scalable, and highly reliable financial transactions.

This is a senior technical position for an architect with deep experience across payment processing, transaction orchestration, financial APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native platforms. You will influence architectural decisions from early product design through production operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end architecture for payment processing, routing, settlement, reconciliation, and transaction lifecycle management.
• Design resilient payment services capable of supporting high-volume and time-sensitive financial transactions.
• Establish integration architectures for banks, payment service providers, card networks, wallets, and financial APIs.
• Lead architecture reviews covering scalability, security, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Define standards for APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, data flows, and service-to-service communication.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate architectural principles into production-ready implementations.
• Identify technical debt and establish long-term platform-modernisation strategies.
• Work with security, compliance, risk, and infrastructure teams to address critical financial-platform requirements.
• Guide technical decisions during major product launches, migrations, and infrastructure transformations.
• Mentor senior engineers and architects while promoting strong architectural governance.

Candidate Profile

• 8+ years of experience in software architecture, payments, banking technology, or fintech infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, databases, and event-driven architectures.
• Demonstrated experience designing highly available financial or transactional platforms.
• Strong understanding of payment flows, settlement processes, reconciliation, and financial integrations.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and modern engineering practices.
• Strong knowledge of security, identity, encryption, and technology-risk principles.
• Excellent technical leadership and communication skills.
