Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Financial Data Engineer to build high-performance data infrastructure supporting fintech products, financial analytics, risk management, reporting, and real-time decision-making.

The successful candidate will work at the intersection of software engineering, financial data, cloud infrastructure, and analytics, designing reliable pipelines capable of processing large volumes of transactional and market information.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable data pipelines for financial and transactional datasets.
• Build reliable ingestion frameworks for payment, banking, market, customer, and operational data.
• Develop real-time and batch-processing architectures for critical fintech applications.
• Implement data-quality, validation, lineage, and governance controls.
• Optimise data infrastructure for performance, scalability, availability, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, engineers, product teams, and risk specialists.
• Build datasets supporting fraud detection, financial reporting, customer analytics, and risk modelling.
• Develop automated monitoring and alerting for critical data workflows.
• Contribute to cloud data architecture and infrastructure modernisation.
• Establish engineering standards for testing, documentation, security, and deployment.

Technical Environment

Strong experience with Python, SQL, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Spark, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, REST APIs, and modern data-warehouse technologies is highly desirable.

Experience working with financial transactions, payment data, banking systems, market data, regulatory reporting, or other sensitive financial datasets would be particularly valuable.

Candidate Profile

• 5+ years of professional data-engineering experience.
• Strong background in large-scale data processing and distributed systems.
• Excellent SQL and Python capabilities.
• Experience designing production-grade data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of data quality, security, governance, and observability.
• Experience working within financial services or another highly regulated technology environment is advantageous.
• Strong analytical thinking and technical communication skills.
