Position Overview

A technology-focused financial services organization is looking for a Data Scientist to transform complex financial and transactional datasets into predictive insights that support better business decisions. The successful candidate will work across customer analytics, transaction intelligence, risk modelling, forecasting, and fintech product optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop statistical and machine-learning models using financial and transactional datasets.
  • Analyze customer behavior, transaction activity, product performance, and operational trends.
  • Build predictive models supporting risk assessment, customer segmentation, forecasting, and anomaly detection.
  • Design experiments to evaluate product and operational initiatives.
  • Develop data pipelines and analytical workflows in collaboration with data engineers.
  • Translate business problems into quantitative models and measurable analytical solutions.
  • Validate model performance and communicate limitations and assumptions to stakeholders.
  • Create analytical dashboards, reports, and visualizations for business and technical teams.
  • Identify patterns that can improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
  • Maintain reproducible analytical processes and appropriate technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, finance, risk, and business teams.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong quantitative and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to transform ambiguous business questions into structured analytical problems.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistics, modelling, experimentation, and data interpretation.
  • Strong programming ability and interest in financial technology.
  • Capable of communicating sophisticated analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in data science, analytics, quantitative finance, or a comparable field.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience with machine-learning frameworks and data-analysis libraries.
  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms, visualization tools, or financial datasets is advantageous.
