Position Overview

We are looking for an accomplished Payments Architect to design and evolve scalable payment infrastructure supporting high-volume digital transactions. This position is suited to a technology professional with a strong understanding of payment ecosystems, financial APIs, transaction processing, security architecture, integration patterns, and distributed systems.

You will operate at the intersection of financial technology and enterprise architecture, translating complex business requirements into resilient payment solutions capable of supporting rapidly expanding digital services.

Core Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architectures for digital payment platforms and transaction-processing environments.
• Develop scalable integration strategies connecting payment gateways, banks, processors, wallets, merchants, and financial platforms.
• Define API architectures and integration standards for payment-related services.
• Establish technical patterns for transaction routing, authorization, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Evaluate architectural performance, scalability, availability, and resilience.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, security, risk, compliance, and infrastructure teams.
• Lead architectural reviews and establish technical standards for payment systems.
• Analyse emerging payment technologies and assess their potential business impact.
• Support modernization of legacy financial infrastructure.
• Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, integration specifications, and implementation roadmaps.
• Identify architectural weaknesses and recommend improvements to reliability and operational efficiency.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, observability, and high-availability strategies.

Candidate Profile

You should possess strong systems-thinking capabilities and be comfortable working with complex financial technology ecosystems. The ideal candidate understands both the commercial requirements of modern payments and the technical principles required to build reliable, secure, high-performance infrastructure.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in software architecture, payments technology, banking platforms, or financial infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems.
• Experience with payment gateways, transaction processing, digital wallets, or banking integrations.
• Knowledge of authentication, encryption, fraud controls, and secure API design.
• Strong stakeholder management and technical leadership capabilities.
