About the role

About the job

Join a leading European company in the technology refurbishing sector as a Senior Data Scientist. You will be instrumental in developing a roadmap and deploying advanced algorithms that automate and optimize pricing decisions across our marketplaces and other sales channels, directly impacting our competitiveness and operational efficiency. This is a high-impact role for an expert who thrives at the intersection of business insight, operational complexity, and cutting-edge AI.

Key responsibilities

Algorithm Development & Automation

  • Design, build, and implement machine learning and statistical models to automate pricing decisions for refurbished mobile devices, from prototype to production environment
  • Develop robust, scalable AI algorithms that address real-world pricing challenges, including dynamic pricing, demand forecasting, and competitor analysis

Business Insight & Model Translation

  • Collaborate closely with business, operations, and product stakeholders to distil complex requirements into actionable data science solutions
  • Translate operational and market insights into predictive and statistical models that drive measurable business value

Developing and continuous model improvement

  • Continuously monitor model performance, address issues such as data drift or model degradation, and retrain models as necessary to maintain optimal accuracy
  • Design and execute experiments (A/B tests) to evaluate pricing strategies and model improvements.
  • Stay current with the latest research and industry best practices, suggesting and implementing state-of-the-art approaches to improve pricing outcomes

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, data, and business teams to ensure seamless integration of pricing models into marketplace systems
  • Support IT department and ML engineers to deploy models into production, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability in a live marketplace environment
  • Clearly communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, with a proven track record in marketplace or e-commerce environments. Demonstrated expertise in designing and maintaining life cycle of machine learning models in production
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with relevant ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost). Deep understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modelling, and experimentation methods (regression, causal inference, A/B testing).
  • Experience translating business and operational insights into statistical and predictive models that deliver tangible business impact.
  • Familiarity with designing AI algorithms with robust issue handling and monitoring in production environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex results clearly and persuasively
  • Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred Experience

  • Deeper specialization in the Data Science / AI field (incl. Large language models).
  • Experience with pricing automation or revenue management in large-scale, high-transaction marketplaces. Bonus if working especially for pricing, with good grasp of price-elasticity modelling, demand forecasting, or revenue optimization.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker) for model deployment. Experience with C#
