📌 Role Summary

The Fintech API Integration Engineer will design, implement, and maintain integrations connecting financial applications with external payment providers, banking platforms, and financial service systems.

The position requires a strong combination of software engineering expertise and knowledge of financial technology environments. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of reliable API connections, improve data exchange between financial systems, and support the technical implementation of new fintech services.

Working remotely from Estonia, the engineer will collaborate with backend developers, product specialists, and infrastructure teams to deliver dependable financial technology integrations.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs connecting internal fintech applications with external services.

• Implement integrations with payment gateways, banking APIs, and financial service providers.

• Build secure data exchange processes between interconnected financial systems.

• Develop and maintain API documentation and technical integration specifications.

• Troubleshoot API failures, authentication issues, and transaction communication errors.

• Implement webhook-based communication and event-driven integration workflows.

• Monitor API performance, response times, and integration reliability.

• Apply appropriate authentication, authorisation, and data protection mechanisms.

• Collaborate with backend engineers to improve integration architecture.

• Conduct integration testing and support deployment activities.

• Investigate production issues and implement sustainable technical solutions.

• Contribute to technical standards that support scalable fintech infrastructure.

🎓 Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• At least 3 years of professional software development or API integration experience.

• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Node.js, or another relevant backend programming language.

• Practical experience developing and integrating REST APIs.

• Understanding of JSON, HTTP protocols, webhooks, and API authentication.

• Knowledge of payment processing workflows and banking integrations.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other relational databases.

• Experience with Git, Docker, and cloud-based development environments.

• Understanding of secure software development practices.

• Strong debugging, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
