Role Summary

The Payment Gateway Solutions Engineer will be responsible for developing, configuring, and maintaining technical solutions that support payment gateway operations and merchant payment integrations.

The role combines software engineering, payment infrastructure knowledge, and technical troubleshooting. The successful candidate will work with engineering, product, and merchant integration teams to ensure that payment systems communicate effectively, transactions are processed reliably, and technical integration requirements are properly implemented.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical solutions supporting payment gateway infrastructure and transaction processing.

• Implement integrations between merchant platforms, payment gateways, banking systems, and external payment service providers.

• Design and maintain APIs that facilitate secure payment initiation, transaction verification, and payment status updates.

• Support the configuration of payment routing rules and transaction processing workflows.

• Investigate payment failures, integration errors, and transaction communication issues.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve payment processing reliability and system performance.

• Implement technical validation procedures to ensure accurate payment information exchange.

• Support the integration of card payments, bank transfers, and alternative digital payment methods.

• Monitor payment gateway performance and identify technical issues affecting transaction success rates.

• Maintain API documentation, integration guides, and technical implementation records.

• Participate in software testing, deployment activities, and production troubleshooting.

• Work with security specialists to implement appropriate authentication and data protection controls.

• Assist merchant integration teams with complex technical implementation requirements.

• Recommend improvements to payment infrastructure, integration processes, and system reliability.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• Relevant experience in payment gateway engineering, backend development, or fintech integrations.

• Strong programming knowledge in Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar languages.

• Practical experience with REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, and third-party integrations.

• Understanding of payment processing, transaction lifecycles, and merchant acquiring.

• Familiarity with card payment infrastructure and alternative payment methods.

• Knowledge of SQL databases, cloud services, and distributed systems.

• Understanding of payment security principles and PCI DSS requirements.

• Experience troubleshooting production systems and integration failures.

• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Professional proficiency in English.
