Description

Company Overview

The organisation operates within the fintech industry, developing digital financial products and services that help businesses and individuals complete payments, manage financial workflows, and interact with modern payment infrastructure. Its product environment requires a strong understanding of customer expectations, payment reliability, technical integrations, operational processes, and the importance of delivering secure and dependable financial experiences.

The Product Management department connects customer needs with business strategy and technical execution. It works across engineering, design, operations, compliance, and commercial functions to identify product opportunities, define requirements, and deliver improvements that create measurable value.

This remote opportunity is designed for a product professional who can combine customer research, analytical thinking, commercial awareness, and structured delivery management. The successful candidate will help shape payment-related product capabilities, prioritise development initiatives, and ensure that product decisions are grounded in customer needs, operational realities, and clearly defined outcomes.

Role Summary

The Product Manager will oversee the development and continuous improvement of payment solutions and related digital financial services. The role involves identifying customer problems, defining product requirements, maintaining a prioritised roadmap, and coordinating delivery across multidisciplinary teams.

Working with designers, software engineers, payment operations specialists, and business stakeholders, the Product Manager will guide features from discovery through launch and subsequent optimisation. Areas of responsibility may include payment initiation, transaction status visibility, payment failure handling, merchant or customer onboarding, payment reporting, and integrations with external service providers.

The position requires the ability to balance competing priorities while ensuring that product requirements are sufficiently clear for engineering teams to implement. The Product Manager will also monitor product performance, gather feedback, and identify improvements that strengthen usability, reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain a product roadmap for payment solutions and related financial technology capabilities, aligned with business objectives and customer needs.

  • Conduct customer interviews, market research, stakeholder consultations, and competitor analysis to identify unmet needs and product improvement opportunities.

  • Translate customer and business requirements into product specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and clearly prioritised development tasks.

  • Collaborate with product designers to define customer journeys, simplify payment workflows, and improve the usability of payment interfaces.

  • Work with engineering teams to assess technical feasibility, clarify dependencies, evaluate implementation options, and coordinate product delivery.

  • Prioritise features and improvements according to customer impact, business value, operational risk, technical complexity, and available resources.

  • Develop a clear understanding of payment flows, transaction states, failure scenarios, settlement dependencies, and integration requirements.

  • Coordinate the delivery of features involving payment initiation, transaction tracking, refunds, reporting, payment notifications, and exception handling where relevant to the product.

  • Engage with payment operations and support teams to understand recurring customer issues, identify workflow inefficiencies, and translate operational feedback into product improvements.

  • Define success metrics and key performance indicators for new features, such as adoption, completion rates, transaction failure rates, customer satisfaction, and support demand.

  • Use product analytics and customer feedback to evaluate feature performance and recommend iterative improvements after launch.

  • Coordinate product releases with engineering, design, operations, compliance, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Identify potential dependencies involving external payment providers, APIs, financial data, and third-party services, ensuring they are considered during product planning.

  • Work with security, risk, and compliance stakeholders to incorporate relevant controls and operational requirements into product specifications.

  • Maintain product documentation, roadmap updates, decision records, release notes, and stakeholder communications.

  • Facilitate planning sessions, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and product discussions to maintain alignment across distributed teams.

  • Communicate product decisions and trade-offs clearly, ensuring stakeholders understand priorities, delivery expectations, and the reasoning behind changes.

  • Review market developments and evolving customer expectations to identify opportunities for new payment features and enhancements to existing services.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Product Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Professional experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis, or digital financial services.

  • Understanding of product discovery, roadmap planning, requirements definition, backlog prioritisation, and iterative software delivery.

  • Familiarity with payment systems, digital wallets, payment gateways, merchant services, transaction processing, or financial application workflows.

  • Experience writing clear user stories, acceptance criteria, product specifications, and functional requirements.

  • Ability to collaborate with UX/UI designers, software engineers, operations teams, and commercial stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret product metrics, customer feedback, and operational data.

  • Experience with product management tools such as Jira, Linear, Confluence, or equivalent platforms.

  • Understanding of APIs, third-party integrations, and the relationship between product requirements and technical implementation.

  • Ability to balance customer needs, commercial priorities, technical constraints, and operational considerations.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.

  • Experience working in agile or iterative product development environments.

  • Awareness of payment security, data protection, fraud prevention, and regulatory considerations relevant to financial products.

  • Previous experience in fintech, banking, e-commerce payments, or payment infrastructure is an advantage.

  • Experience managing products within remote or internationally distributed teams is beneficial.

  • Remote working opportunities within Estonia, subject to the organisation’s employment policies.

  • Opportunity to influence the development of digital payment products and financial technology services.

  • Collaboration with engineering, design, analytics, operations, and commercial teams.

  • Opportunities to develop expertise in payment infrastructure, product strategy, customer experience, and product analytics.
