A leading financial services environment in Estonia is seeking a detail-oriented Payments Operations Specialist to support the accurate and efficient processing of domestic and international payments, foreign exchange transactions, and related banking operations. This role is suited to a professional who understands transaction workflows, operational controls, payment investigations, and the importance of accuracy in a regulated banking environment.

You will work across payment processing, FX settlement, transaction reconciliation, exception handling, and operational support, collaborating with internal teams to ensure transactions move efficiently from initiation through settlement.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and monitor domestic, SEPA, SWIFT, and other international payment transactions.
• Support operational processing of FX spot, forward, and related currency transactions.
• Review payment instructions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal procedures.
• Investigate rejected, delayed, returned, or incorrectly routed payments and coordinate appropriate resolution.
• Perform daily reconciliation of payment, settlement, and FX transaction records.
• Monitor transaction queues and identify operational exceptions requiring immediate attention.
• Coordinate with treasury, compliance, finance, customer service, and banking partners on transaction-related matters.
• Maintain accurate operational records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with payment investigations, transaction amendments, recalls, and settlement queries.
• Contribute to process improvements that reduce manual intervention and operational risk.
• Follow established controls relating to AML, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and operational risk.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in banking operations, payments, treasury operations, FX operations, or financial services.
• Good understanding of payment processing and settlement procedures.
• Familiarity with SEPA, SWIFT, international payments, and foreign currency transactions.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve operational exceptions methodically.
• Comfortable working with banking platforms, transaction systems, spreadsheets, and operational databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within controlled, deadline-driven financial operations.
• Knowledge of European banking practices and regulatory requirements is advantageous.
