We are seeking a Fintech Data Engineer to build and maintain reliable data infrastructure supporting financial products, analytics, risk management, reporting, and business intelligence.

This is a technically demanding position for an engineer who understands that financial data must be accurate, traceable, secure, and available when critical decisions are being made.

The Role

You will design data pipelines and engineering solutions that process transactional, customer, operational, and financial information. You will work closely with analysts, data scientists, software engineers, product teams, and risk specialists to create dependable data foundations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable data pipelines for financial and operational data.
• Build reliable ETL and ELT processes.
• Integrate data from payment systems, financial platforms, APIs, databases, and external providers.
• Develop data models supporting analytics and reporting.
• Implement data-quality checks, validation, and monitoring.
• Optimise data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to provide trusted datasets.
• Support real-time and batch-processing requirements.
• Maintain data lineage and technical documentation.
• Implement appropriate data-security and access controls.
• Investigate data inconsistencies and resolve pipeline issues.
• Contribute to data-platform architecture and engineering standards.
• Support migration and modernisation of legacy data systems.

Technical Environment

Experience with several of the following:

• Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages
• SQL
• PostgreSQL and cloud databases
• Apache Spark
• Kafka or comparable streaming platforms
• Airflow or similar orchestration tools
• Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or comparable platforms
• AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Data-quality and observability tooling

Candidate Profile

• 4+ years of professional data-engineering experience.
• Strong SQL and programming capabilities.
• Experience building production-grade data pipelines.
• Understanding of data modelling, distributed processing, and cloud data platforms.
• Experience working with transactional or financial datasets is highly valuable.
• Strong understanding of data quality, security, and governance.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Comfortable collaborating across engineering, analytics, product, and business functions.
• Strong professional English communication skills.
