A technology-led financial services organisation in Estonia is seeking a Principal Fintech Data Architect to define the data architecture supporting sophisticated financial products, analytics, risk systems, and digital customer experiences.

This is a senior technical position for an architect capable of transforming complex financial data requirements into secure, scalable, and well-governed data platforms. The role will work across engineering, analytics, product, risk, compliance, and business leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Define enterprise data architecture for fintech platforms, financial products, and analytical systems.
• Design scalable data models supporting transactional, customer, operational, and financial datasets.
• Establish architecture for real-time and batch data processing across distributed environments.
• Develop standards for data quality, lineage, governance, security, and accessibility.
• Partner with engineering teams to design reliable data pipelines and event-driven architectures.
• Support advanced analytics, forecasting, fraud detection, risk modelling, and business intelligence initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging data technologies and determine their suitability for production environments.
• Establish architectural principles for cloud-based data platforms and modern data infrastructure.
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to protect sensitive financial information.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to senior engineers and data specialists.

Candidate Profile

• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, software architecture, banking, fintech, or related technology environments.
• Strong understanding of distributed data systems, data modelling, APIs, event streaming, and cloud architecture.
• Experience designing platforms handling large-scale transactional or financial datasets.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, and access-control principles.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and executive stakeholders.
• Strategic mindset combined with strong hands-on architectural judgement.

Technical Environment

Modern cloud platforms, distributed databases, event streaming, data warehouses and lakes, APIs, microservices, real-time processing, CI/CD, observability, and automated data-quality frameworks.
