Role Overview
The Data Engineer will build the backend data infrastructure required to support fintech analytics, transaction intelligence, financial reporting, customer insights, risk analysis, and operational decision-making. The role sits at the intersection of software engineering, data architecture, and financial technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines for transaction and financial datasets.
• Develop reliable ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured financial data.
• Build data ingestion services connecting backend applications, payment systems, banking platforms, and external APIs.
• Develop real-time and batch data-processing architectures.
• Design optimized data warehouses, data lakes, and analytical databases.
• Establish data validation, quality-control, lineage, and monitoring processes.
• Process high-volume transactional datasets while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
• Support fraud detection, financial analytics, risk modelling, and business intelligence initiatives.
• Optimize database queries and data-processing workloads.
• Implement appropriate data-security and access-control mechanisms.
• Collaborate with backend engineers, analysts, data scientists, product teams, and security specialists.
• Document data architectures, pipelines, schemas, dependencies, and operational procedures.

Candidate Profile

• Strong experience with Python, SQL, Java, Scala, or similar technologies.
• Practical knowledge of data warehousing and database architecture.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms and distributed processing systems.
• Understanding of APIs, event streaming, ETL/ELT, and data integration.
• Strong knowledge of data quality, governance, and security principles.
• Experience working with financial, transactional, or high-volume datasets is highly advantageous.
