Description

About the role

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll be a founding member of the team, designing, building and launching backend solutions for a brand-new domain. You’ll architect, build, and launch the backend platforms that power Bolt’s financial automation – coding mainly in Node.js and TypeScript (don’t worry, you don’t need to know Node.js beforehand!).

You’ll partner closely with Finance, Commerce, and Product stakeholders to translate complex regulatory and operational needs into scalable backend systems and APIs  depends on. Product-oriented thinking is deeply ingrained in our engineering team’s approach, so you’ll have the chance to shape and lead initiatives end-to-end.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing, and deploying the scalable and reliable core platforms for financial flows ensuring data completeness, consistency, quality and compliance in different regions.

  • Building integrations with Bolt’s existing backend services and various third-party tools and APIs.

  • Participate in setting the technical direction for the new domain and establishing engineering standards aligned with ITGC / DORA requirements.

  • Partnering with Finance, Commerce, and Product stakeholders to translate complex regulatory and operational needs into reliable automations.

  • Helping lead features and initiatives from idea to positive execution.

  • Sharing your knowledge by giving tech talks and promoting engineering best practices in and outside the team.

We are not really looking for Node.js experts, but for cross-language engineers for whom a specific stack is just a tool to solve a problem, not the solution itself.

About you:

  • You have solid backend engineering experience and a track record of designing and shipping scalable, reliable systems.

  • You feel at home with microservice architecture and are experienced in API design.

  • You have strong principles towards writing clean, simple, secure, and maintainable code.

  • You possess a solid understanding of algorithms and data structures.

  • You have empathy for stakeholders and end-users, and thrive in an environment with a fast feedback cycle.

  • You’re eager to learn and grow into finance-adjacent domains (fintech, tax, accounting) – prior experience is a plus.

Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don’t tick every box, please consider applying if you feel you’re the kind of person described above!

Why you’ll love it here:

  • Play a direct role in shaping the future of mobility.

  • Impact millions of customers and partners in 600+ cities across 50+ countries.

  • Work in fast-moving autonomous teams with some of the smartest people in the world.

  • Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.
